Pay for memory. Not for seats.
Seats made sense when only humans did work. Now your agents do the work, so we meter two things: what they do and what they keep. Every store, retrieve, update, or forget is one memory operation, a MOp. One agent or a thousand, the bill reads like infrastructure.
§ 01How we meter
Two meters. One promise.
OctaMem prices memory the way infrastructure should be priced. Generous on what you keep, disciplined on what you do.

Background work: decay, re-indexing, and evolution, runs on us. You only pay for what your agents trigger.
Single agent · ~50 conversations/day · ≈ 80-120k MOps / month
Multi-agent workflow · retrieval-on-every-turn · ≈ 300k+ MOps / month
Memory volume · GB stored
What your agents remember.
Hot · Active recall
Last 30 days · Neo4j-resident
Warm · Occasional retrieval
30-365 days · indexed search
Cold · Audit and history
365+ days · archival
The FDE engine: Forget, Decay, Evolve, automatically tiers memory by access pattern. You see one volume number. The system places it where it belongs.
fig. 2 · usage estimate
Price the motion of your agents.
Start from a workload, then tune the three drivers. The default production agent lands near the 80-120k MOps rule of thumb.

§ 04Frequently asked
Questions we always get.
Generous on what you keep, disciplined on what you do. The bill should read like infrastructure, not seat math.
What is a MOp?Open
One atomic action against the memory layer: a store, retrieve, update, or forget. Each counts as one MOp. Background work like decay, re-indexing, and evolution is not metered.
How do I estimate my MOps usage?Open
Use the estimator above. As a rule of thumb, one production agent handling about 50 conversations a day uses 80-120k MOps a month. Heavy retrieval workflows can push this to 300k+. We do not bill background or system operations.
How does the storage work?Open
The FDE engine automatically tiers memory across hot, warm, and cold storage based on access patterns. You see one volume number; the system places memory where it belongs. Active records stay fast, archival records stay cheap.
What happens if I exceed my included MOps or storage?Open
Your dashboard shows consumption against the allowance included with your plan. If you need more capacity, move to the next tier or talk to us about a workload-specific allocation.
Do you charge for model tokens?Open
No. OctaMem meters memory operations and memory volume, not model tokens. Bring your own model and your own API keys.
Can I self-host?Open
Yes, on Enterprise. We deploy in your VPC, on-prem, or air-gapped, with your own encryption keys (BYO-KMS) and customer-managed stores.
How does Enterprise pricing work?Open
Enterprise starts from $100k per year. Final pricing scales with deployment model, MOps volume, storage architecture, and Vertical Memory Cloud selection. Implementation services are included.
How do I migrate off if I change my mind?Open
Full export at any time as structured JSON, including provenance and audit trail. No vendor lock-in.
Start with Builder. Scale when your agents earn it.
Seats made sense when only humans did work. We meter MOps and the memory you keep.
Builder includes 5,000 MOps and 10 GB for $49 per month.
